Dia del Muerte

Day of the Dead!  What an incredible holiday.  I love the idea of sharing thoughts and feeling for loved ones who have made the transition from this life.  My children's father transitioned almost ten years ago and I am thrilled that there is a day just to honor my beloved first husband and other friends and family.
In honor of this day I have created a tag holder and tag using bright cheerful colors and skeletons from two different Bombshell collections.

I used a wood christmas card holder and inked it black then cut out the scalloped circle from black card stock with my scalloped nestability die and a white circle using the circle nestabilities.  I actually made two of each, one for each side.  I used adirondack inks to color both the circles and the manila tag then distressed them with black soot distress ink from Ranger.  The skull on the tag holder is from the Man's Ruin Bombshell collection.  I colored it with Prisma pencils and then added Rock Candy Stickles to the skull for a sugar skull effect, unfortunately, this is difficult to capture with the camera.  The red rose is covered with Sakura glaze pen.  The white dots on the edges of both the tag and scallops were made with my very favorite Signo white gel pen.  The skeleton on the tag is from the Bombshell Stamp Retro Cowgirl collection.  I edged the tag with black sharpie then added the dots.  The skeleton has been cut out and I added Scothbrite foam tape to the back. The sentiment was created using JustRite Stamps.  The little skeleton on the base is something that has been floating around my craft bin for years. I just distressed him with Stazon ink and attached him with glue dots.

  1. Wow! This is totally fabulous. I'd love to see it much larger to appreciate all the great detail you added. I love the background you created with ink.

Please share it over at Bombshell's forum!
